Did you know?
Romeldale CVM sheep are shorn once per year. This results in perfect fleece length for hand-spinning.
A well cared for Romeldale CVM produces 10 to 12 fleeces in a lifetime.
Romeldale CVM lamb fleece is special. The finest fiber and often striking color gradients during the first year's growth.
The prime fleece on a llama is the blanket - the back and sides around the middle.
Llama fleece is a hollow hair that provides warmth without weight. It includes coarse guard hairs and soft undercoat. Premium llama fiber has the guard hairs removed.
A great shearer adds to the value of the fleece by maintaining lock structure, minimizing contamination and second cuts, and supporting consistent lock length. The best shearers do it all with a gentle touch.
In fiber blends, wool provides the elasticity and memory that llama and alpaca lack.
Our naturally dyed fiber does best with gentle treatment.
Our flock changes into larger coat sizes as their fleece grows. Each sheep will go through 4 size changes per year, lambs 6 to 7 changes.
